Brief Description:

TRIAS S.A. participated in the traffic study of the Submerged Tunnel of Thessaloniki as a consultant to the consortium THERMAIKI ODOS.

The object of the study was the choice of the optimum interventions and traffic amendments that are required, in order to improve project operation, as well as the maximisation of benefits for Thessaloniki and for the project area of influence. This intervention concern the wider region of influence of the project during its operation. The proposed traffic amendments take the plans of the Organization of Urban Planning of Thessaloniki into consideration, together with the current urban planning of the Municipalities affected and the technical characteristics of the Submerged Tunnel according to the Technical Offer of the Contractor.

For the optimization of the proposed interventions, a mesoscopic model of simulation for the total road network of Thessaloniki was used; moreover, a microscopic model of simulation for specific interventions was used.
