NETworks® ATMS
The NETworks® Advanced Transportation Management System (ATMS) is a state-of-the-art, off the shelf application designed to assist in the collection, dissemination, and management of transportation information. A scalable architecture, which can be customized to meet unique operational environments makes NETworks® ATMS an adaptable solution for small and large scale Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) deployments.

The NETworks® ATMS has been developed by DELCAN a worldwide recognised Canadian firm , specialized in Transportation Systems for more than 50 years. DELCAN and TRIAS have established a memorandum of understanding for the representation, support and maintenance of the product in Greece and Cyprus.

The NETworks® ATMS is web-based modular ITS software in which the system is configured based on the customer’s desired system modules. In turn, the system is then priced based on the modules selected, the specific feature set of these modules and the level of customization (if any) that may be required. Figure 1 below depicts all the NETworks® modules.

- Map - Provides an interactive interface to the ATMS using a standard or customer driven custom map in many GIS formats
- Admin - Handles all account management for the application including UI logins, settable parameters, system monitoring and alerts
- Security - Is embodied throughout all levels of the software architecture. It is comprised of three primary security functions: encryption, authentication, and authorization
- Video - Enables access to CCTV cameras and provides the ability to view real-time traffic flow
- Dynamic Message Sign (DMS) - Enables access to all message signs, both fixed and portable. It provides capabilities such as determining status, accessing hardware level attributes (e.g. temperature alarms), retrieving current messages, and posting updated messages
- Road Weather Information System (RWIS) / Environmental Sensor Station (ESS) – Provides notification when roadway parameters indicate inclement weather conditions
- Vehicle Detection System (VDS) – Manages communication with VDS type field devices, pulling in volume, speed, and occupancy
- Advanced Travel Information System (ATIS) / 511 – Is a live traffic website used to display all available real-time traffic conditions including congestion data, CCTV snapshots, streaming CCTV images, DMS message status, road closures, scheduled events, and traffic incidents among other information
- Center-to-Center (C2C) – Provides interaction with legacy systems, partners, and agencies
- Data Archiving and Reporting – Provides logging for all pertinent traffic and incident information
- Event Management – Enables the capability to create, confirm, update, and terminate planned and unplanned events
- Response Plans – After an event (e.g. incident, special event, lane closures etc.) is created with NETworks®, this module generates a response plan indicating the manner in which the system suggests that a TMC operator responds to the event based on pre-defined rules in the system
- Congestion Signing / Travel Times – Uses speed data in conjunction with freeway segment data to calculate estimated travel times
- Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) – Interfaces with off-the-shelf automatic vehicle location systems using standard GPS coordinates and displays this information in real time on the NETworks® map and UI
- Highway Advisory Radio (HAR) – Interfaces with standard digital HAR systems such as the HIS DR2000 to control HAR stations and activate HAR beacons, when applicable
- Traffic Signal – Is used to display traditional traffic signal information as well as remotely control traffic signal systems
- Smart Phone / PDA – Allows regional travelers to view traffic conditions on their cell phones, smart phones and wireless enabled PDAs
- Ramp Metering – provides capabilities of managing the entrances on the hoghway
